Americorps Nonprofit Co-ops

A group of 6 people stands together smiling with a sign that says 'AmeriCorps Serving Here'. The people have a variety of skin colors, hair colors, and clothing. Behind them is a banner for the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement. The Drexel AmeriCorps Nonprofit Co-op is based out of the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement. This program provides students the opportunity to become a member of AmeriCorps, a national service organization, while doing their Drexel Co-op at a local nonprofit in a position focused on workforce development. The nonprofits that host Drexel AmeriCorps Co-ops are located in various neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. AmeriCorps Co-op members commit to dedicating 900 hours over the duration of 6 months to support job seekers and adult learners in enhancing their workforce development and digital skills.

Within this Co-op’s framework, participants are part of an AmeriCorps Cohort during either the Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer Co-op cycle. As part of the required 900 hours during their Co-op term, members come together in a cohort for monthly meetings and additional programming encompassing a blend of professional development, training sessions, and ongoing service opportunities. While serving, AmeriCorps members gain practical experience with nonprofit organizations and are offered opportunities to network with seasoned professionals, connecting their academic and professional experiences with continuous on-going civic engagement.

If you’re interested in joining the AmeriCorps Nonprofit Co-op, you can find the positions listed with Drexel’s Steinbright Career Development Center during each Co-op recruitment cycle. For additional information on how to become a Drexel AmeriCorps Co-op member please reach out to Kate Doe, Program Manager, at kmd498@drexel.edu.
